讲座简介:

Typical applications in the 60 GHz ISM bandsuch as wireless high-definition video streaming require a high signal qualityto achieve large data rate transfer. At 60 GHz, the 2.5 mm wavelength insilicon makes it possible to integrate multiple antennas on chip. Beam steeringis enabled electronically by on-chip phase shifters. The phased arrayarchitecture with RF phase shifter in CMOS technology is a compact solution forachieving on-silicon integration.

Broadband systems at mm-wave  frequencies have recently received a greatdeal of interest since their bandwidth is sufficient for high-data ratecommunication, such as the fifth generation (5G) wireless communication system andtypical K band (20-40 GHz) applications. With the development of silicon basedtechnology, a high performance mm-wave front-end with complex systemintegration is feasible in SiGe BiCMOS technology. However, it is stillchallenging for an mm-wave front-end system to cover the entire bandwidth from20 to 40 GHz to support K band and 5G communication systems.

主讲人简介:

  

Prof. dr.ir. Gao is an assistant professorin the Mixed-Signal-Microelectronics group, Eindhoven University of Technology.He received the B.Eng degree from Southeast University, China, the M.Sc. degreefrom the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, and Ph.D. degree fromEindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands.  He is a consultant in RF/mm-IC for NXPsemiconductor. He was a research scientist in Philips Global ResearchHeadquarter, Eindhoven, a European Marie Curie Researcher in NXP Semiconductor,Sweden, and a research scientist at Delft University of Technology, TheNetherlands. He was awarded a Philips Semiconductor Scholarship, Delft. He wasrecipient of the best paper reward, WiSNet, US, the high quality paper awardfor ICICS 2011, Singapore, 2011 IEEE Radio Wireless Week, US, ISCAS studentgrant, finalist of IMS, US. He was co-recipient of the ISSCC 2015 DistinguishedTechnical Paper, San Francisco, US. His research is focused on the RF/mm-wave IC,wireless power transfer, mm-wave phased array system, and THz-IC.
